This page contains a detailed listing of staff positions for which the TMR Management is actively seeking applicants. All positions are for the full summer camping season, unless otherwise noted. Click here for the current summer's Dates of Operation. Camp Staff Application Each year the GNYC summer camp leadership team hires more than 350 Scouts and Scouters to deliver outstanding camping programs at the Day Camp at Pouch, Cub World and Ten Mile River Scout Camps. We are pleased that over the past few years the percentage of returning staff has continued to increase, but each year there are a number of positions at all levels that must be filled with top quality people to ensure the continued success of our programs. Positions are available for men and women starting at age 16 who are Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, Adult Leaders, Scouting alumni and people with experience working with children. Most positions require a full summer commitment (from the end of June to the third week in August). Benefits include salary, room and board, job training, a great work environment and the self-satisfaction of helping others. A limited number of positions are available for part of the summer. Many Scouters volunteer for a week or more to assist our summer camp staffs with their special skills and knowledge - this allows us to keep the price of camp at a minimum for all of our Scouts while offering special program opportunities. While some positions require specific skills, others simply require energetic, enthusiastic people who want to use and develop their Scouting skills to serve others. There are both program positions for those who like to work with people and support positions for those who prefer to work with their hands. 15 year-old Scouts and Venturers may apply to join our team of Counselors-in-Training. This is a great opportunity to gain a positive work experience while helping younger Scouts. Counselors-in-Training experience the many different aspects of working at camp under the guidance of a senior, experienced member of the camp staff. Counselors-in-Training also improve their Scouting skills and are encouraged to work on their advancement requirements, including earning Eagle-Required merit badges. Each year there are many opportunities for Medical staff and Lifeguards. Lifeguards must be at least 17-years-old with strong swimming skills. Additional previous certification is helpful but GNYC provides first aid, CPR and Lifeguard certification courses at no cost for successful applicants. Medical positions are available at all of our camps. Under the supervision of our Camp medical officer, EMTs LPNs, RNs and similarly certified professionals provide for the health and safety of our Scouts. Click here to download the Staff Application.
