Nestled among towering pine trees, and truly one of the lesser-known gems of the TMR Scout Reservation, the Ten Mile River leanto site is a must-see for all visitors to TMR - new and old alike. This site, complete with 8 leantos spread over a large, wooded area, is located directly on the Ten Mile River, which is a tributary of the Delaware. Though the Ten Mile River is not passable by canoe or raft, its aesthetic value more than makes up for it. Two of the leantos are located directly at the river's edge. Site is equipped with reflector stoves in front of the leantos. The site also has a great deal of open, flat space, perfect for tenting. This site is a bit "off the beaten path," so units are guaranteed not to be disturbed by passers-by, or other campers. The famous TMR Red Dot Trail, which connects the entire reservation, passes by the Ten Mile River site, making it an excellent place to stop while hiking along the trail. Direct access to the Delaware River is not available from this campsite.
