Anthony Zalak (AZ) is returning in 2025 for his 5th summer as Camp Director of Aquehonga and his 23rd consecutive summer working at Camp Aquehonga. Anthony never really wanted to work on staff and in 2003 was convinced that he be a perfect fit for staff and the rest is history. He enjoys working with the scouts and scouters who come through the doors of Aquehonga. Outside of Summer Camp, Anthony is very involved in scouting back in Queens. He is an Eagle Scout and the Scoutmaster of his home Troop, Troop 106. When he is not at camp or doing scouting, Anthony teaches Science at PS 196 in Brooklyn. He has been teaching for the past 22 years. Anthony also gives back to his community by teaching seventh and eighth grade Sunday School at his Parish of Our Lady of Hope in Middle Village. Anthony is looking forward to delivering a first-class program at Aquehonga this summer.

Jack Murphy is this year’s assistant camp director for camp Aquehonga. Although he was a volunteer in ‘15 and ‘16 Jack fully started working in 2021 as assistant aquatics director and then became aquatics director for the next 3 years. Working at camp impacted his life so much that he swapped degrees and graduated with a degree in history education and works as a paraprofessional. Jack has been working with kids for over 10 years as he first started as an assistant dance coach at his dance school. Jack is super excited to work this year and can’t wait to see all the older scouts as well as the new scouts who are coming to camp for the first time.

Lukas Tarrao is returning as the Program Director of Camp Aquehonga. Lukas started working at Aquehonga in 2021 in Handicraft and has loved returning to camp year after year. Outside of the summer, Lukas is a student teacher at Bayside High School; he will be graduating from Queens College in May of 2025 with a major in Mathematics Education. Lukas’s work experience in scouting and youth development is what inspired him to pursue a career in education. Lukas is looking forward to a great camping season in 2025; this summer he is excited to see returning faces and meet all the new campers.
