DBS is a half day program; participants choose either the 9-12 or the 2-5 session.
Scouts will learn and be asked to demonstrate many of the important skills they will need to master for rank advancement. They will go swimming, shoot archery, play gaga ball, and form a new summer camp patrol.

Merit Badges

First Year Scouts will have the opportunity to take up to three merit badges during the other half of the day (9-12 or 2-5).

Spirit Programs

Special opportunities for first year scouts only like DBS BBQs, sleepovers, movie nights, and more!

5 Mile Hike

On Wednesday, scouts will complete a 5-mile hike. We encourage unit leaders to join to help with supervision.

Totin’ Chip and Firem’n Chit

These awards will be PART of the DBS program. They are also offered 7-8 Tues and Wed for Scouts NOT in DBS. If your Scout is in the DBS program, they will earn these and do not need to attend the 7-8 classes.

Awards

-Scouts will earn Totin’ Chip and Firem’n Chit within the time allotted for Dan Beard Society.

(The Totin and Firem’n course offerings at 7-8 on Tues and Wed are only for Scouts not in DBS.)

Rank Advancement

Scouts will work toward proficiency in scouting skills from Scout Rank through First Class. To see the full list of requirements we cover, see the list below.

*Note: We will provide what we saw them demonstrate via Blackpug’s Unit Advancement Report. Unit Leader’s must sign off the Scout’s requirement completion.

Scouts will also get the opportunity to participate in the following activities:

– Low COPE
– Archery
– Gaga ball
– Waterfront: swimming and trampoline
