Participant Types

The two main participant types are

  • Scouts BSA Youth
  • Scouts BSA Adult

However, different participant types allow access to different levels or types of program. For example, some adult leaders may only come for a couple days. They would register as the participant type:

  • Half-Week Adult

Scouts that are attending camp without their unit would register as

  • Provisional Scout

Scouts or adult leaders that are attending the Trek program would register as

  • Trek Youth
  • Trek Youth Provisional
  • Trek Adult

Specialty Camps

There are additional participant types for scouts registering for Specialty Camps. These are programs that are offered for a special concentration of interest and have merit badges and programs that cannot be accessed by other Participant Types.

Some examples are:

  • Eagle Camp
  • Media Production Camp
  • Scuba Camp

Some merit badges are only offered for a specific Specialty Camp, and only participants registered as that Participant Type can see or access those badges.

For example, only Scouts registered as “Eagle Camp Youth” can see and register for Eagle Camp badges like Citizenship in the Nation and Personal Management.

For a list of the year’s current specialty camps, head to the Specialty Camp page.
